About Us
In early 1988, Joseph Carabello had a burning desire to form an Italian American Club. He began discussing his idea with Bob Lampione on the steps of Holy Spirit church. Bob said he was interested. It was discussed several times with other people, Al Scrudato, Mike Galiano and Ross Colletti. Finally, Joe Carabello contacted Pat Vozo, who was active with Tri-Boro UNICO in Butler, NJ. Joe was asked to come along to a meeting and to bring along a few friends. After the meeting with Tri-Boro the decision was unanimous, this was the organization that we would be proud to be part of.
It was agreed that we would be known as Pequannock UNICO. We received help from the Plainfield chapter in getting started. The first year there was no election of officers, but we all agreed that Ross Colletti would be President, Bob Lampione, Vice President, Joe Carabello Treasurer, Al Scrudato, the Recording Secretary and Mike Galiano the Sergeant-at-A rms. Thus Pequannock UNICO was born!
The Pequannock chapter of UNICO recently held its installation dinner at the Wayne Manor. The new Officers are, seated, Ross Colletti, President, and standing, from left, Alfonse Scrudato, Secretary, Joseph Carabello Sr., Treasurer; and Robert Lampione, Vice President. Make Galiano, Sergeant-at-Arms not shown.
